Who Qualifies to Take the Exam?

This two-day event will help nurses to prepare for taking the certification in emergency nursing exam and may be of benefit to those new to emergency nursing who are seeking a solid foundation in theory.

Objectives

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the anatomy and physiology of the cardiac system and assess and provide emergency nursing care to the patient with cardiac emergencies;
  • Assess and provide emergency nursing care to the patient with pulmonary emergencies;
  • Assess and provide emergency nursing care to the patient with orthopedic/wound emergencies;
  • Discuss professional issues and legal implications of various emergencies;
  • Assess and provide emergency nursing care to the patient with general medical emergencies;
  • Assess and provide emergency nursing care to the patient with multi-system trauma and/or shock;
  • Assess and provide emergency nursing care of the patient with GI emergencies;
  • Assess and provide emergency nursing care of the patient with a GU/GYN/OB emergency;
  • List concepts of emergency nursing care to the patient with substance abuse, toxicological, psychosocial, or general environmental emergencies;
  • Assess and provide emergency nursing care to the patient with maxillofacial and ocular emergencies; and
  • Identify the knowledge and criteria needed to successfully pass the CEN examination.
